The welcoming coastal vistas of Coffs Harbour attract visitors for lots of reasons – whether it’s the beautiful beaches, amazing natural beauty or relaxed township, this the perfect spot for a getaway focused on relaxation and recharge.
Solitary Friends
The Solitary Islands Marine Park is a whopping seventy one thousand hectares of coast, and Coffs Harbor is your gateway to this incredible preserve. There’s beaches and tidal estuaries galore here and the area is set up with areas where fishing, diving and other recreational activities are permitted – make sure you pick up a map so you know where you can drop a line in. There’s plenty of options for guided tours so you can find the best snorkelling, diving and fishing spots with the help of a knowledgeable expert, or you can strike out on your own to make discoveries independently.
Where the forest meets the sky
Within the Bruxner Park Flora Reserve in the Orara East State Forest you will find an award winning way to experience the rainforest like never before – the Forest Sky Pier. Soaring 310 metres about Coffs Harbour and jutting out 21 metres beyond the old lookout, it offers incredible panoramic views. Nearby is the TreeTops Adventure Park, which has all kinds of rope courses, suspension bridges, flying foxes and other adrenaline inducing adventures with more than a hundred challenges to conquer. They have courses designed for children and for seasoned clamberers, so there’s something for everyone here.
Wind along the Story Trail
The Gumbayggirr Dreaming story is the subject of the beautiful scenic trail that leads you to the Korora Lookout. It tells the story of Gumagali the black goanna, via sculpture, signage and murals. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some of the local goannas while you’re there, along with some other local wildlife. The track is only 400 metres long, so it’s accessible for everyone regardless of athletic ability, so bring the hold family and enjoy some fresh country air while you learn about some of the Indigenous history of the area.
Tasty Treats at Twilight
At the beautiful beachside locale of the Park Beach Reserve where the gorgeous Coffs Creek meets the sea, you will find the Twilight Food Market, which happens every Friday from October to April. It’s family friendly and dog friendly, and there are so many delicious treats on offer that you will be absolutely spoiled for choice, but whatever you decide on, you’ll be able to spread a blanket out and indulge in a feast. You can enjoy a swim and a stroll after dinner and enjoy the sunset views – relaxation perfection.
Flutter with Butterflies
Butterflies have sparked the imaginations of people for centuries, and the award winning Coffs Harbour Butterfly house is the perfect place to learn more about and experience the beauty of these enigmatic and ephemeral creatures. There’s also an outdoor maze to enjoy getting lost in, and a café with a gift shop where you can take in some refreshments and pick up a butterfly-themed souvenir.
